When You Want Something Really Clean

It is true, I am a bleach freak! When I do any sort of deep cleaning around the house I alway have a couple of gallons of Ultra Clorox Regular Bleach Unscented. I am very picky about what type of bleaches I use. I only use Ultra Clorox. I feel it is the best type of bleach available. It is normally about 10 to 15 cents more than any other brand, but well worth the extra money!
Why not other Types?
I do not like scented bleaches at all! I had a bad experience with scented bleach. I opened up a bottle of scented bleach once to smell and see if I liked the scent. Let me tell you, that was the wrong thing to do. Bleach is so strong anyway and has such powerful fumes, I don't know why I bothered to smell it, but I did, and it about knocked my socks off. I don't think they should make scented bleaches because there is always some fool like me who is going to try and smell this stuff right from the bottle!
I tend to over bleach. I never follow any sorts of directions when I use bleach. I normally fill my washer up and then I just add a ton of bleach, I would have to say I over bleach. I open the lid and pour straight from the bottle and I do a once around when I pour.
I really don't need any other type of bleach, and besides, Grannie always says, "If it is not broke don't fix it."
She has been using Clorox for as long as I can remember. I remember when I first started out as a young mother. I would go to purchase some off brand bleach to save a few pennies. My grandmother would pull some Clorox off the shelf at the store and replace my off brand. She would hand me a quarter and tell me that I would thank her later. Yes, Grannie was very picky, and it seems as if I have adopted her ways!
Some Uses For Clorox In my Home
I use Ultra Clorox on all sorts of things besides laundry. Sometimes my husband takes a sprayer and fills it up with bleach. He will go along our home and spray straight bleach on our home. It will remove all sorts of mold and pollen. I live right under several trees. This is the price we have to pay for having them so close to our home. We also have to bleach our deck for the same reason. He also bleaches the picnic tables, and our front steps. I don't know what it is about pollen, but we have not been able to find anything that works better than the Ultra Clorox.
Sometimes I bleach our floors and kitchen counters. Everything in my kitchen is white, so bleach really helps me out. If you want something to get rid of odors instead of masking it, bleach works wonders. It doesn't have a wonderful smell when it dries, but it smells clean.
My tubs are also white. Sometimes I will fill the tub up with water and pour a bit of bleach in the water and let it sit all day. This will remove any stubborn soap scum stains or rings that you have. I love the idea that I can disinfect things. I always break out the Clorox when someone in the house gets sick with the flu.
Sock Treatments
I am strange and so are my kids. For some reason when my son comes home from school his white socks are so black from playing on the playground, that I just cringe. My daughter for some reason has a problem with getting make-up on her white collars of her shirts.
The reason I am strange is that sometimes I will take clean socks out of his drawer about once a month and then rewash them. I will make time to give them a special treatment. I will take a bunch of stained whites that would not come clean in the regular wash and then I would soak them all day in very cold water. I will then rinse the water out periodically until I can pull out as much dirt as I can. Sometimes I will let them soak over night. In the morning I will squeeze all of the socks out and add them to the wash machine filled with hot bleach water and laundry soap. I will give them a spin. It is amazing how things will get sooooo white when you take the time to do this.
Smokers
If you have any smokers in the home, you will notice that if you take a bit of bleach and water and go around wiping things that are bleach safe off, whatever you are cleaning will come several shades lighter. Smoke leaves an ugly brown residue on things. I will bleach wherever possible. It will cut down on the stale smell from smoke in the home too.
Pets
Clorox Ultra is a must for pet lovers. I always was their pet area down with bleach. I like the security of knowing I am disinfecting while I am cleaning. Again, this will get rid of pet odors as well.
Things I dislike about using Clorox
I always spill or drip bleach when I use it. I usually have to change into some work clothes when I clean with Clorox verses other types of cleaners. If I am in a hurry, then Clorox probably isn't the best type of cleaner for me to use. I always stain my clothes if I don't change. You can ruin your jeans and other types of colored clothing if you accidentally come into contact with it.
Smell
These fumes can be very harmful. I always try to use this product in a well ventilated area. I have used Clorox to many times and have made myself sick from the fumes. It is also poisonous if consumed. I will always place these items up high away from pets and children.
Over doing it
I was not happy at one time I used Clorox on my walls, and it was to strong and the bleach actually peeled the paper from a room I have done in sheet rock. It was to strong, I should have pretested and I didn't so I can't complain.
I have to use gloves when using this product because it will irritate my skin, and cause it to burn, turn red, and cause my skin to dry out. It is best to use gloves whenever possible.
Overall
I feel that this product is a must. Everyone needs to use bleach for some reason or another, you might as well use the best and spend a few cents more than generic.
