Having had a few bottles of wine go bad, I began the search for a wine cellar for my home. The internet search kept leading me to the Vintage Keeper 200 as the best value for the price. The catch was the I would need to assemble the product. The product is relatively easy to assemble, and seems to work very well (I've had it up and running for approximately one month). Absolutely the best value for the money. However, the challenges to get to this point have not made it worth the effort or the savings.

The product was bought through a local distributor here in the Bay Area (Calvino Select), and shipped directly from the manufacturer. Several problems resulted in it taking 3 months to have all the proper pieces in working order to allow me to assemble the wine cellar. To summarize:

1) The manufacturer lost my order, so it arrived in 6 weeks, rather than the normal 3 week delivery.
2) Boxes were badly damaged and left on my doorstep with no signature for receipt required (shipped via UPS)
3) 3 pieces were damaged and/or defective: a side panel, the cooling unit, and the piece that the cabinet feet attach to in order to level the cellar--none of this damage occurred during shipping.

I have been dealing with both the manufacturer as well as the supplier, without much success for my troubles. Given what appears to be a lack of quality control at the manufacturer as well as lack of responsiveness to a customer, I would not recommend buying this product. It could be that this was an isolated case, buy if you have time to spare.
