What kind of monitor to buy
Apr 24 '01
The Bottom Line Generally, the bigger the better and also a high resolution that comes with it.
Hmmmmm........ Well it's not hard to figure out what kind of monitor you want. Generally the bigger the moniter the better it is..
Well that is not always true. Lots of people would rather have a higher resolution monitor than a bigger one, but some people would rather have just a bigger one. It's just like T.V.'s. I am sure you are aware of the new high definition t.v's that are out. The picture on them is a lot clearer than say a big screen tv.
Basically for moniters if you buy one that's less then 2-3 years old it's going to be pretty good. But also the more you spend on one it is usually going to be better. Usually the more expensive moniters are bigger and have a higher resolution. What's resolution you ask??? Well it's how clear the picture is on the moniter. The higher the resolution the better the picture will look. A fairly good resolution is 1024 by 768. Most programs and internet site's are optimized for that resolution. Basically all moniters have that resolution if they were built within the last couple of years. I only have a 14 inch moniter and it has that resolution and games and other programs look just fine. I would prefer a bigger moniter but i don't have the money right now and am happy with mine. I think for a moniter you don't need more than a 17 inch one and you would be really happy if it had a resolution of
1600 by 1200. But then you are thinking of $300 bucks or so. You could get a nice 15 inch moniter for less than 200 and it would be well worth it.
One thing i don't recomend to anyone is one of those flat panel moniters. Sure they are less space consuming but they are like $500.00 for a 14 inch moiniter. That's crazy!!!!!!!! I personally would rather have a 17 inch moniter than a 14 inch flat screen but the choice is yours.
IN conclusion I think that a 17 inch moniter would be ideal for anyone who has the money. But if you've got the money and willing to pay more you can go for the 21 inch moniters or higher. If you don't have the money, I would reccomend going with a 15 inch moniter.
Well, that's pretty much all I can tell you and I hope you find the right moniter for your needs.
