If paying taxes were not bad enough, Kiplinger Tax Cut has made the experience even worse.

I spent two hours attempting to use the product. I chose it because I have been using it for the past four years. I always have some problems but this year is the worst.

I installed the software, and imported last year's tax tax information with no problem. However, when I tried to import my tax categories from Quicken, the program froze. So, I did a complete uninstall, cleaned the registry, tried another clean install and had the same problem.

As a computer lab administrator, I had the option of testing the software on other machines (Windows 2000, Windows 98, etc). I had the same problem on every single machine.

UPDATE: Although it appeared that last years tax information was successfully imported, it was not. The software completely missed year 3 of the Roth IRA conversion income. (The software did not make that mistake last year.) In addition, I am unable to print my tax return. Tax Cut crashes whenever I try. Finally, it has been three days since I emailed tech support about the problem and they have not responded. AVOID THIS PRODUCT.

UPDATE 2: Even after I emailed a carefully worded explanation of the problem, Kiplinger's tech support (finally!!) sent me very simplistic instructions about how to print and import. Good Grief!! The problem is not that I don't how to do these things. The problem is that Tax Cut doesn't know how to do these things. Although I thought this was a great program in years past, both the program and the tech "support" have been a nightmare.
