Pros: affordable, clear box sides for easy identification of contents, lid fits securely, boxes stack well
Cons: How many magazines can one store before being classified as a packrat?
The Bottom Line: Somehow the Bottom Line has sandwiched itself between the Reminisce magazines in this storage box. Since this box is see-through, I know just where the Bottom Line is located.

| dlstewart's Full Review: Sterilite Set Of 2 12 Quart Green Storage Box |
My parents subscribe to a variety of magazines ... and they keep most of them. The magazines they don't hold onto, they share with the neighborhood. Neighbors love it when they see my mother with her arms laden with magazines. It means their children have great material to cut up for school projects and reports. But what about all the magazines that aren't circulated to the neighbors? That's where Sterilite 12-Quart Storage Boxes come in handy. I use the boxes, too, and they are wonderful!
Description
Sterilite makes a sturdy storage box. The box measures about 10 1/2" wide x 16 1/2" long x 6" deep.
The bottom section of the box is a clear plastic that allows easy viewing of what is inside. Four round feet about 1" in diameter are molded into the plastic bottom, lifting the box slightly off of a flat surface. The upper rim has a rolled edge to allow the fingers to curl beneath the edge for easy holding and carrying. The boxes are designed to stack upon one another.
I find it interesting that I've seen this 12-quart storage box with different colored lids. Green, purple, white ... choose your color! The lid, like the bottom, is of smooth plastic. I appreciate the rounded corners so that they don't catch on things. The lid snaps onto the box and stays in place. I have never had a lid pop off or flop around. These lids are sturdy and fit securely on the boxes.
Pricing
Between my parents and myself, we have been purchasing Sterilite 12-quart storage boxes for quite a few years. Neither of my parents remember what they paid for the two 12-quart boxes with green lids that are sold as one unit. However, I have recently purchased several Sterilite 12- quart boxes at my local department store for $2.00 each on sale. These boxes are reasonably priced.
Magazine Storage
As I said earlier, my parents keep a lot of their magazines. These see-through plastic storage boxes are ideal for storing their magazines flat while keeping them dust free. To give you an idea of how many magazines fit into one of these storage boxes, I did some counting.
* Discover & Scientific American -- 34 magazines
* Taste of Home & Quick Cooking -- 40 magazines
* Reminisce Magazine -- 45 magazines
* Assorted Seed Catalogs -- 45 catalogs
Since the storage boxes stack, this makes a great way to save magazines while economizing on space.
Other Uses
These boxes are a convenient size for many uses. The children enjoy cramming their favorite toys of the moment into these boxes. I find them handy for sorting my craft projects and materials. When we purchased new kitchen flatware, the old eating utensils went into one of these boxes. One of these boxes has even found its way into my father's workshop where it holds an assortment of odds and ends -- his version of a junk drawer.
Paper is heavy. Since these boxes are of a durable plastic that doesn't bend beneath a heavy load, it makes for ideal storage of magazines. The metal kitchen flatware is also heavy and sits well in the Sterilite 12-quart box without stressing the plastic. These boxes are great for the children since they can take abuse without cracking. (We've never had one of these boxes break!)
Summary
The Sterilite 12-Quart Storage Boxes receive high marks from our household. They are inexpensive, durable and can be used to store a variety of items. These storage boxes also stack well and stay stacked ... no tipping. We like them!
I hope you have found this review useful.
