Pros:Stable; Free support & upgrades; Fast, accurate virus protection; 100% free, no ads or spyware!
Cons:None.
The Bottom Line: It's free and it's better than the costly alternatives - no contest here!
I love this program. I am generally suspicious of free software from big companies, but it doesn't contain spyware, and I think it is being offered much in the same way Netscape and Microsoft issue their browsers for free. It is good promotion for their more sophisticated security packages and services.
My other apprehension about InoculateIT was whether it would continue to be updated and supported. But it is also a part of their advanced security suite, so they are obligated to support it for their paying customer's anyway.
So finally, the program was cleared of my suspicions and I was ready to start using it. I actually switched to it from McAfee, which was doing my system far more harm than good.
A few months, and I was hooked. Virus Definitions came just about every other day, they offer free support (although I've never needed it), my computer hasn't faced the constant crashes, freeze-ups and slow-downs McAfee brought me, and it stood up to every virus test I performed on it!
InoculateIT is offering a very nice piece of freeware here that has everything you need in virus protection software. There is no reason to go for costly suites from McAfee and Norton when a very speedy, stable and reliable version is being handed out for free!
Strongly recommended - and it's free so you can afford to give it a try!
UPDATE Perhaps it was too good to remain true for very long...InoculateIT is being phased out by Computer Associates as of June 2001. But if you have a copy & a customer #, it is still fully supported with virus definitions released almost every other day.
