It STINKS!

Pros: More than wide enough for most keyboards, not too hard, not too soft
Cons: Emanates chemical-smelling fumes
The Bottom Line: If you have no sense of smell, and work alone, you might be able to use it.

I reorganized my cubicle last week, and decided I needed to replace the "block of foam rubber" wrist pad I had with something a little more comfortable.
After poking my finger through the holes in the blister packs on five or six different styles of wrist rests at Fry's Electronics, I decided on the Belkin ErgoPAD. It was one of a very few that had a rubberized surface and wasn't some kind of "clear jelly" look.
I'm not overly fond of the "silicone gel under Spandex" wristpads. They always make me feel like I'm taking liberties at the gym, if you take my meaning.
The wrist rest I got with my Happy Hacking USB Lite 2 is covered with a "sueded" cloth.
The ErgoPad is nice, as far as wrist rests go. It's not overly squishy, nor is it as rock-hard as the foam rubber block I had before. It has a soft upper surface, and a harder-but-still-rubberlike base "plate" that the "pad" is stuck into.
Unfortunately, there's one very nasty problem with it - it STINKS.
Literally. I took it to the office, opened the blister pack, and spent the next hour with my eyes watering and people asking, "What the heck is that smell?" any time they walked past my cubicle.
It's close to the same odor you'd get walking into the storage locker at a Discount Tire Company on a very hot day - that wonderful scent of offgassing rubber, with a hint of what might be ethyl-methyl-ketone to perk it up.
I'm not sure why it smells as bad or as strong as it does, but it's too much for me. I'll have to see if Fry's can take it back as an exchange or something, because the smell is simply intolerable.
