Beware of the Micron Max XP

If you're going to buy a pc online, Micron will not stand behind its lemons. You're going to get dinged in a big way.

I too purchased a Micron this year, only this time as a 'canceled' unit through the Micron Store. It also came with ME software and crashed.
I also had local tech support to help with Micron's tech support.....but here is the difference. On a three-way phone hookup between the Micron salesman, the Micron Tech Support, and me, MICRON'S TECH SUPPORT SAID THE Windows ME SOFTWARE WITH THE PC WAS 'CRAP'!
I was also told by the Micron salesperson that my unit could not be warrantied if I changed out the software. I had two choices.....either return the unit as is, for a refund minus shipping, or for $100 more, purchase Windows 2000.
By this time, enough local techies had told me Windows ME was totally inadequate for my needs, and I should be in Windows 2000 or NT.
So I took up Micron on their second choice:
They paid me to ship back the original PC; they then shipped me a NEW PC with better specs and Windows 2000 installed....for $100.
Unit runs like a charm. Couldn't be happier!
