I've had mine just a little over a week, so judge accordingly.
Works with the Audible content as well as with downloaded MP3 and Windows Media.
I love being able to take a book and/or music with me on trips and to the gym.
Audible.com works like a dream, Windows Media Player lets me insert my music and voice recordings from other sources.
The information available on how to use the player is scanty, both in the box, at Audible, and on the web. The review above gave as much or more practical how-to as any other I found.
I wish I could partition music and voice on the player, as I'm able to do on my laptop with Audible Manager. When I find the memory card, maybe I'll be able to do it that way.
lightweight - I can clip it onto the collar of my t-shirt at the gym.
Works for music and data CD's I had already, although I had problems with that (see below).
I'm not sure whether this is a benefit, or whether I just don't know how to use it, but I can choose between Audible Player, Windows Media Player, and Real Player for playback.
Bad software - deleting a song shouldn't take 30 to 60 seconds, and moving stuff from one file to another within the program (I know it's not really in the program) shouldn't take just as long.
Doesn't work smoothly with the Windows Media player, and not at all with my Music Match. (Add in the Roxio Easy CD burner that came bundled on my Dell, and I've got 4 programs to burn CD's)
I have to use the Windows Media and the software/steps aren't as simple as I'd like them to be (BTW, when you "search for audio files, be sure and do so from the Music Inbox and not the Audio Inbox - otherwise you'll have to move all the songs to find what is likely to be fewer books and voice recordings. If you do goof up and put hundreds of songs in the wrong file, move them in batches by control-click to select, right-click to "Move to folder." Then you won't spend double the time copying and then deleting as I did with the first 20 or so I moved.)
Doesn't have a DC converter and *cannot* be used if connected by USB to the computer - load and unload only, no listening, no saving batteries. There is a port for "DC in" on the side, but where's the adapter?
Came with a cassette converter/player for the car. I need something to work with my CD player, and so does everyone in my family.
Keep in mind that I'm thinking about spending another $150 or so for an FM transmitter for the car and at least one memory card. (So it's not really free)
