I love shopping at Adagio Teas! They have a wonderful selection of black and green teas. And they ship very promptly as well! They have a great return/refund policy with no questions asked if you are not happy with your purchase for any reason.
The website is quite easy to navigate and there are tons of information about their loose teas on the web pages. They believe in educating their customer on their products and they do so in a good, simple presentation.
I do want to point out that they have a neat array of glass and ceramic teapots for sale there, some very simple and others very decoratively elegant. My favorite is the "concert teapot". It's made in Germany, and is made of sturdy tempered glass. It has a decorative design, and pleasing to the eye, when put on your coffee table for afternoon tea. It has a gold-plated infuser and teapot itself rests beautifully on a teakwood stand. You can use a small tealight candle underneath the pot, and on top of the stand, to warm the tea. Best thing about the teapot is that it's dishwasher safe and easy to maintain!
I have several other teapots (Mikado, glass minuet, aria pot, Wagenfeld) that I have bought from the merchant.
Just a quick lowdown on the teapots I own from Adagio:
The Mikado was neat looking, fun to use but I found out it wasn't as dishwasher-friendly as the manual and website said it was. I would not buy that pot, as it's great to look at but not as durable, and broke in the first time it was in the dishwasher.
The Glass Minuet was supposed to be a convenient, have-your-own-tea anywhere tea cup/tea infuser. I found it confusing to use, and the often the tea leaves got through the infuser and it wasn't as smooth drinking tea with leaves in the teacup. It was a bit of a pain to clean the filter/infuser. Not a good choice.
The Aria Teapot was the first teapot I bought from Adagio. It was part of a promotion that was free, with some purchases of Adagio tea. This is one of the most economical of the teapots, but I found it hard to clean up after making tea (loose tea). It functions perfectly and it is an ingeneous design, but I have trouble getting the ratio of tea to water correct when making more than one cup. This is a most convienient way of steeping loose tea, although a bit difficult to clean, but easy on the pocketbook.
The Wagenfeld Teapot is stylish, fashionable European-style teapot is made of tough heat-resistant glass and has a large loose tea infuser. The handle of teapot is beautiful, but quite delicate. This teapot is not one I would recommend for everyday tea drinking as it is hard to clean. The handle is quite fragile and personally I don't use this teapot for everyday tea. In fact the handle broke and I was able to glue it back together with a tiny bit of superglue. Where it broke, it's hard to see with the naked eye but I leave it in the China Cabinet, where I get lots of comments on the beauty of the design. However, if you don't really drink tea, but want something simple to put on a tea tray or coffee table for decorating ideas, this teapot would do the trick.
Adagio has a large, wonderful selection of loose tea from black to flavored to decaffeinated tea. If you don't know anything about tea but want to try the loose teas, a good way to sample the teas is to buy the sampler packages. They come in the sample categories of: black tea, oolong tea, fruit tea, white tea, green tea, herbal tea, rooibos, and decaf tea. Each sampler of tea is $11, and you get (6) one ounce tins of the various teas in each of the categories. So if you want to try the black tea sampler, you'd get (6) one ounce tins of the teas in that category for $11. These samplers are a wonderful way to try some new flavors without committing to a giant container of loose tea you are unfamiliar with. They also make really great gifts!
My favorite bottled tea is the ITOEN bottled teas from Japan. Before Adagio, I was buying them at an organic food store here in my home town for $2.99 a bottle. Yes, it's a luxury item, but once you taste the purity of the different types of green tea in a bottle, you will get addicted.
Oh, I almost forgot, the SugarShots product is a worth a try as well, if you love to sweeten tea, but hate the fact that granulated sugar ends up at the bottom of the glass. Basically it's filter water and pure sugar cane in a bottle, that instantly dissolves in hot or cold water and give you a clean, evenly distributed sweet taste of your beverage. I've added these SugarShuts to tea and lemonade. Again it's a luxury item, but if you love to sweeten your beverages, but hate that the sugar ends up at the bottle, you have to try the SugarShots!
