Pros: Impress your friends! Quick, complete cork removal. Once learned, easy to use
Cons: Definitely has a learning curve, included foil cutter sub par, case hard to open, price
The Bottom Line: A good standard corkscrew will cost $10-20. This is a great corkscrew but I would think twice at this price. If you can find it under $40, go for it.

| heckonwheels's Full Review: Metrokane Rabbit Corkscrew |
This was a Valentines Day gift from my wife. I do not know how much she paid for it, but lets hope it was on sale (Ill put $50 in the pricing of this review because that seems to be the going price on the shopping sites I used to look it up). The kit I received included the rabbit cork puller, a foil cutter, and an extra corkscrew for the rabbit. It also comes in a good-looking plastic case.
After removing everything for the first time, I tried it out. Time to start over because I cant figure it out. I read the instructions and try again. This time it works.
Heres how: With the lever down (and the screw raised), you grip the neck of the bottle with the ears of the rabbit. Raise the lever and the screw glides into the cork. Lower it again, and the cork is removed. That quick and no bits of cork broken off floating in your wine.
Now, raise the lever as far as it will go. Grip the cork with the ears, lower the lever, and the cork is removed from the screw. The rabbit is now ready for the next bottle.
Once I learned this procedure, removing corks from bottles was quick and easy but it did take a little learning curve to get there
keep in mind that before my wife gave me this gadget I had never seen one before. I give Metrokane credit for including detailed instructions with the kit, including how long the screw should last and how to replace it with the included extra screw.
The rabbit is made out of metal and has a heft to it. A powder coating (mine is silver) keeps the elements at bay and rubberized grips help you keep a good hold on it. I like the heavy-duty feel of it.
Included is a foil cutter that I would term mediocre at best. To use this, you cover the top of the bottle with the round cutter. Then you squeeze the sides to put the two blades in contact with the foil and twist it in a circle. Remove the cutter and pull off the foil.
I say this is mediocre because you really have to exert some force to put those blades on the bottle. It would be just as easy, if not more so, to just run a knife blade around the foil.
One more little knock I have is that the case is very difficult for me to open. But I do have to give kudos to the case for having a place for every part and also having two rubber arms to hold the rabbit in place when not in use.
So heres the scorecard on the elements of the kit:
THE RABBIT: Great. Quick and easy to use
once you learn how. Heavy duty construction, cool looks, and easily impresses your friends when used. Removes cork completely.
THE FOIL CUTTER: Eh, could have been better.
THE CASE: Good looks, handy cutouts for secure storage of kit components, difficult to open.
THE PRICE: Is it really worth that much to save a few seconds in opening a bottle of wine? Youll have to answer that for yourself because mine was free!
