Why I am unhappy about Wyders

Written: Mar 20 '01
The Bottom Line: Try the best of the alternative of cider flavors!

I first discovered Wyders in Las Vegas about 6 years ago. It was the only alternative to Woodpecker Cider that I could find in town and it was the only other cider besides Blackthorne on tap. Now here in Austin my choices are becomming even more limited, I can't seem to find even a six-pack of it at any of the stores! Which is why I am unhappy.

What does make me happy is coming home and having a nice pear cider while I make dinner or sit on my porch and what the day go by. Yum!

Body.

The light fruity body of the cider is sweet and tart at the same time. The strong infused pear taste is an additive not a true pear cider, it is made from apple cider. Wyders does it right. Not made with any malt, it remains light and refreshing instead of heavy.

When you take a sip of the pear cider it is the same as the apple, light and sweet and when it hits the back of your mouth the tart essence of the pear comes back to balance out the sweetness. It is a beautiful almost perfectly clear cider with a few faint bubbles. To me it IS the Champagne of cider!
