Great choices, but....Yes! Someone else who knows about Dario Argento! (don't anyone else get offended if I haven't read your Argento reviews. I haven't been looking outrageously hard)

Actually, it's not a horror movie at all. Check for it in the comedy section next time you're in a video store.

If I could double trust you, I would. It does my heart good to see a man who lives up to his word.

Speaking of Trust, where can I find this film? I keep seeing it mentioned in horror flick reviews but can not find it in the Epinions database or at any of my regular online video stores. I've got to see this thing.

Great list Matt. Your descriptions of the films/monsters that you included were perfect. One of the best lists I've run across in a long time, kudos to you.

Training real sharks ... giggle ... laugh ... chortle ...

I'm not even touching the Hans Solo thing. *wink*

I loved your description of "monster" for the.... (Reply to this comment)

...purpose of this review: "someone with an emotional void large enough to swallow all others on screen and becoming the sole focal point of the viewer's morbid curiosity."

Very good line that is broad enough to handle some of the fascinating selections you made. "Trust" is news to me; gotta check that one out.

Very well done.

Great piece, man--anyone that mentions David Hess, Bruce the Shark, Ilsa, and Dario's gloved hands in the same piece clearly knows what they're talking about.

I always get a giggle any time someone mentions the ideas of 'training' real sharks for the movie. I'd have loved to have seen footage of the training sessions.

I knew I was gonna catch flack for putting Han Solo instead of Harrison Ford... I was TRYING to accentuate being a naieve youngster at the time and only knowing this "Harrison Ford" of which you both speak from Star Wars. However, I'm convinced I need to change it and eliminate all validity in your comments. HA!

Pet wookiee was pretty damn funny.
Much thanks,

-Matt

Shucks, Matt - did you know that "Han Solo" was played by Harrison Ford? Learn something new everyday - I thought Han Solo was just a Corellian rogue, here on loan, playing the occasional part in an action flick to feed his wookiee.

Nice invocation of Hal Hartley, mate. Any mention of Trust is a welcome mention.

Cheers,

Walter (still waiting to impress Black Bear)

I'm not easy to impress but you win the prize for this review. Your statements are accurate and to the point without giving away too much of each film in your list.

A couple of notes: The actor you call "Han Solo" in Apocalypse Now is Harrison Ford. Also, using the allowed HTML codes in your review will make it look much better.

You might be interested in joining me in a write-off that is planned for next month. It is going to be on horror films/books and you will be allowed to write on anything that falls into that subject matter. Drop me an email if you are interested and I'll get you the rest of the details when everything is ready.

BTW, welcome to my WOT!
