Two weeks after purchasing a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition, my husband and I were rear ended by an out of control drive. He actually started to spin out and the entire passenger side of his car hit the back of our Jeep. The force of the collision rolled our car over, luckily landing rightside up on the other side of the road. Both my husband and I walked away without a scratch.
So, after figuring out everything with the insurance companies, we walked back into the Jeep dealership and purchased another. Exactly the same, but this time we got the V8. I have never really been into cars, but I can really tell a difference with the V8.
Bottom line is, I feel safe in our Jeep. It is stylish and fun to drive. We originally talked about waiting for the 2005 to come out, but the new square body style is not as appealing to us as the 2004.
The Special Edition is perfect for us because it has the look of the the higher grade limited, but without the higher price tag. It had extras that the Laredo does not have, such as a 10 disc CD changer and leather seats. We also got the cold weather package with the heated seats that we love and make the car feel very luxurious.
My husband used to have an Explorer (a 1998) that we traded in for the Jeep. The Explorer had the high back seats that made it difficult for me to check my blind spot, I am only 5 foot 2 inches tall. I never felt comfortable driving it. The Jeep has the low back seats and it makes all the difference. I already feel much more confident and comfortable in the Jeep.
