CyberPower inc shipped me a broken computer. But not just slightly broken, I'm talking totally broken. I have been trying for SIX WEEKS to get replacement parts, and I have left one telephone message per day requesting to hear from a supervisor - not one time have my calls been returned.
1. The hard drive, where the cables connect to it, looked like it had been thrown on the floor.
2. The neon light bulb (not very important, but paid for) is shattered right down the middle.
3. The cabling looks like it was done by a five-year old. The cables are tie-wrapped to each other in a giant spider-web, and most of the connectors are being held together with scotch tape!
4. More on the wiring, there are some male connectors on the motherboard, but they were apparently out of the correct female-side harnesses, so they used harnesses that don't even fit, and they used scotch tape to hold them on too (which didn't work). So now my fans don't register on the digital display.
Ten days ago I sent another e-mail to CyberPower's customer support, their sales center, tech support, and a supervisor's address letting them know that I am furious at their pitiful customer support and a list of the broken parts. They still have not even replied to the e-mail.
Monday I will file a report with the Better Business Bureau.
I will NEVER EVER EVER do business with them again. If you are reading this because you were wondering if they are a good company to buy from... run, don't walk, to another computer company. CyberPowerInc is the worst at everything they do.
***UPDATE***
Today is May 29, 2004.
Still no luck with Cyberpower Inc. I have left phone messages and e-mails every day for two months. The customer service has gotten even worse. There is an employee named Julia who answers the phone - she has gotten so used to my voice that she hangs up on me within the first 5 seconds of any call that she answers.
I have received an EXTRA CHARGE on my credit card for $80.00 from Cyberpower Inc. No idea why... I can only assume it is for the replacement of the broken hard drive they sent me (The one that is covered under their warranty).
I filed a complaint with the BBB, but I do not expect any help there. This company clearly does not care about its reputation.
I am at the point of total frustration with this company. I don't even know what other options are open to me at this point.
If you were considering Cyberpower for a purchase, please take this seriously and avoid this company - I wish I had.
If anyone out there knows what other avenues I can pursue to reach some sort of settlement on this issue, please let me know.
**Update** (June 04, 2004)
Response received from the BBB. They are now trying to intervene. I wish them luck. Personally, I really do not think Cyberpower gives a darn about their reputation.
**Update** (June 18, 2004)
Guess what I got today!! A box from UPS with my replacement parts! And a letter explaining the extra charges on my credit card (there are now two, the one from last month and one this week for another $120. So add another $200.00 to the cost of the computers).
Apparently, Cyberpower reserves the right to charge you money for your "free broken parts replacement", but they plan to reimburse the money when I send back the broken parts...
So let us review: It has now taken over three months to get any parts replaced. How long do you think it will take to get my money back for those free items? If you hear synical laughter in the background, that's just me entering a deeper level of hysteria.
Want the best part? I opened the box and they sent the wrong parts.
This will be my final update as I have already fixed the stupid computer myself. Now I am canceling the credit card (so Cyberpower cannot put any additional charges on it). I lose.
I learned a lesson at a very high price: avoid Cyberpower!
