My father uses the Rubbermaid container. He turns it with a pitchfork in the container. Then uses it on his garden. The only other thing I have seen him do is add some cheap cola to it to get it going.

and good idea keeping a bucket for the leftovers. I used to just throw them in a big hole our dog dug in the back yard. Whatever the possums didn't come up to eat, became the compost. lol
