It was convenient to have all those vending machines... (Reply to this comment)

however, it really made the streets look trashy.
I am anxiously waiting to see what next you will write about regarding Japan...possibly the telephones?! We left 11 years ago, so I am not sure if it is the same now or not, but the phones were so confusing while we were there. Yellow, green, red, blue which do I use?! Though we were totally into using the calling cards and collecting them. We had never seen calling cards till we got to Japan. Oh and then having to buy your phone line for your house...wow, talk about expensive!! Phones were definitely a luxury over there. Anyway, I am enjoying your reviews on Japan.
Keep on writing,
Donna

I live in the Bay Area, and there is a lot of gay culture here. So this would be the market. By the way, I am a heterosexual, single dad, living with my 2 sons. If gay or straight people want used underwear, lets sell it to them! Think about it! Epinions is now doing a penny a hit! Instead of everyone moaning about it, we can sell our underwear on the side, and bring up the revenue here. We can all get profit sharing off this! Uribou, this may be what saves Epinions from collapse! Lets all donate our used underwear to Epinions now!!! Again, this is a joke. Great review Uribou:)

Thanks, Folks. I am glad that I got your feedback. Even if I don't mention your name below, please don't take it as I am ignoring you. I know this reply will be a long one. Please forgive me focusing on those who addressed questions.

I am very interested in which city (or town) you stroll around. I have personally seen only 3 vending machine for underwear vending machine in the entire Tokyo. As you know, Tokyo is not a city, but a state....

I don't think you will ever find a vending machine for sumo wrestlers' used things. Believe it or not, the robe (or the strings) sumo wrestlers use on the official wrestling fields cost at least a couple of 10 thousand dollars before they order ones. If it is used by a TV quality wrestlers, the price is sky-rocketing...

I haven't seen any vending machine for sushi. It might be possible, but I don't think there will be any. This is because sushi is always carrying the risk of food poisoning, as well as sushi is very easy to be dried up. The bottom line is: If you can invent a sushi vending machine, you will be a multi-millioniar.

The fussy part is the following. If you give a gift to your girlfriend on the first time you date her, should the authorities think you are paying the fee for the sexual activities? Many couples spend at least a couple of hours before they sleep together, and they know each other to some extent. How can you differentiate prostitutions from love affairs? Do you believe one night affairs are the prostitution in any form?

I think the US is more open for gay culture. You are on the right track to make money. Don't you think?

You are always welcome to visit Japan. Though the currency exchange rate is not as good as in 70s, I believe you will have an extremely good time if you will not hesitate to challenge something peculiar. Let me know if you want to know anything. Honestly, some things seems very normal to me, though they look very unusual for Americans.

Brings back memories... (Reply to this comment)
by yusakugo
I remember the last time I visited Japan back in college with a friend. His grandfather and uncles lived there... It was quite a shock to see the teenage girl panty machines. My friend and I thought it was some kind of joke when we saw the first one. Then we saw another... and another... then stopped looking at the vending machines. Then it was off to used laserdisc stores.
Nice review... and fun to read!

I Enjoyed This (Reply to this comment)

Uribou,
This was a very interesting, nay, enlightening opinion shedding light on some of the idiosynchracies of differing cultures.
I must admit that I wasn't necessarily aided in making a purchasing decision, but I was entertained, thus the high rating.
One thing you left out, though... do they have any vending machines that dispense sumo wrestler's used thongs? Because I bet there is a big market for that.

P.S. This review is going to do real well with non-member hits. The combination of "teen", "girl", and "underwear" is just killer to bring perverts in through the search engines!
Good job!

Great review!! (Reply to this comment)

I didn't know there were so many vending machines to choose from. I do have to say, if anyone wants my old chonies, they can have them for thirty bucks. I don't care what they do with them. I am a guy, so they probably won't want them, but you never know. Maybe I should put them on E-bay. Maybe everyone here should make our own site titled "Epinioners Old Underwear". We can put them in grab bags, throw a few odd and end pictures in, and share the revenue generated. I think we can all bank from this idea!!
This is of course, a joke. Great review Uribou!! Maybe some day I'll trade you some old underwear, and we can auction them together. Keep up the great writing!!

I love hearing about the Japanese culture, it is so different from the United States. I would love to travel to Japan some day. I have always heard that it is a beautiful country. Thanks for sharing!
