Simple Shoes are the new, hip sneakers (at least, in my neck of the woods). The designs are simple, as the name implies, and they are featured in a lot of the trendy new stores. I liked the fact that I could get a nice pair of sneakers for under $50 and decided to replace my old canvas pair.
MERCHANDISE
This is the manufacturer's site so it only carries the Simple brand. There are casual sneakers, clogs, shoes and sandles for women and casual shoes for men. There are a few other accessories but it is really all about the shoes.
PRICES
Simple shoes are offered through a lot of web site merchants. I found that the prices on this site are as good or better than other sites. I was also swayed by the fact that the site was offering free shipping on orders over $75 which lowered my cost.
STEALS AND DEALS
I looked around the web quite a bit and couldn't find any discount coupons for this site. It also wasn't listed on any rebate sites. However, I did find that the shoe prices here were sometimes cheaper than other shoe retailers that carry this line. This web site also has a sale section with a better selection than other retailers that carry this line.
CHECKING OUT
Ordering was fairly painless. I shopped over a couple of days and liked the fact that items I was considering remained in my shopping cart overnight.
To make a purchase, I had to enter my basic information. Two common web site merchant blunders undermined the experience. For the first one, I had to choose a password. The reality is that, given the limited amount of merchandise on this web site, I am unlikely to shop at this site again in the near future and will never remember my password when I return. When I ultimately do return, I will be hassled for my password and prohibited from making a purchase until I either remember it or they email it to me adding aggravation to the process.
The other web site blunder is the fine print at the bottom of one screen that asked if I wanted emails from the company. Considering I get spammed at least 100 times a day, the last thing I want is more email. I resented the fact that the "yes" box was automatically checked and I had to spend the time changing it to "no." I don't think my purchases should be rewarded with subversive spam.
Aside from these issues, I had to enter my address, shipping information and credit card info.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
I got an email immediately indicating that the store had received my order. I also got an email when my order shipped complete with ups tracking number.
SHIPPING & PACKING
My items shipped the day after I placed my order. They were ground shipped from California to Massachusetts which took 6 days. My two pairs of shoes were each in a shoe box and then packed in a shipping box with no additional packaging. This organization was fine and my items arrived in good condition.
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I like these shoes and I thought the site was okay. It took just over a week to get my shoes which is a little on the long side. Otherwise, I was happy with the purchase.
