OxiClean To The Rescue!

Written: May 22 '04 (Updated May 23 '04)
Pros:Reasonable price, great on stains and odors!
Cons:doesn't whiten as well as old fashioned bleach
The Bottom Line: This product should be a staple in any home with pets or children!

My first experience with OxiClean was a memorable one. Early one morning, my roommate's two young boys decided to sneak out of bed and have a little picnic...in the middle of our living room floor. We awaken to find the boys sitting in front of the TV laughing and pouring Kool-aide onto the carpet on top of the milk, eggs and syrup which were already soaking into the carpet fibers.

As we begin to clean as best we could it is apparent that there will be a large stain. Our other roommate had recently brought home a small tub of OxiClean earlier that week and referred to it as a miracle powder so we figured it was worth a shot.

We followed the easy to understand mixing instructions found on the back of the label, applied the resulting liquid onto the floor letting it soak in and hoped for the best. The OxiClean worked beautifully! After the OxiClean soaked into the stain we dried the area with a towel and tada...no more stain! From that day on our home was never void of this miracle powder because as all of you with young children know, things like this CAN and WILL happen again.

Since then I have used OxiClean on many occasions and it is a staple laundry product in my home. I use a scoop with each load of laundry and since it does not contain bleach it is safe to use on all colors. For my home the end all beat all use is for those accidental pet messes. No matter how much you love your cat, if it leaves a little puddle on anything it is impossible to get that smell out...until now. OxiClean is the only product I have ever found that will remove the pet odor from clothes or blankets and the like so if only for that one reason I would never be without it.

The only disappointing thing about OxiClean is that it doesn't work to whiten as well as I would have hoped. For this, I still use my trusty bottle of bleach.

When OxiClean first came out it was available only from television and it was a bit costly. I am so happy that now it is available at most local grocery stores for around $5 for a small tub. I would highly recommend that everyone should at least try it. Who knows, it could become your little laundry miracle cure too.
