Pros: Almost never a problem getting service
Cons: There are now better plans for less $$$
The Bottom Line: A decent service with a nice amount of minutes. Too bad the contract is so long and the minutes are distributed unevenly.

| Paneless's Full Review: US Cellular Mobile Phone Service in Milwaukee/Raci... |
This is the first cellular phone plan I've ever had, so I guess I can't really compare it to too many others, except for those two important factors: price and minutes.
U.S. Cellular's best plan right now is the 600 minute/$30 per month plan. With this plan you get all the extras: Call Forwarding, Call Waiting (I think I've used it once in six months--I'm not too popular!), Three-Way Calling, Caller ID, First Inbound Minute Free, etc. The minutes are divided up as such: 100 Anytime Minutes + 500 Night & Weekend Minutes. One demerit here would be the too long service contract: 18 months.
The service itself is good, only once or twice I was unable to complete a call, and I'm not even sure if that had anything to do with the service itself and not my phone. I never get crackling or fading out, and never has the phone entered that evil ROAM phase...
Customer Service was very nice--the one time I needed to use it--when setting up my voice mail box. From the time that I called to set it up, a couple hours later I was able to go in and create my password and personal greeting. I've never needed to call them for any other problem.
For $30 this isn't a bad amount of minutes, however, other carriers, including Sprint, are offering more than twice the minutes for less than double the price. But an extra $10-15 per month doesn't seem like a lot, and if you don't really need all of the minutes (I've never even used half during any one month), why bother?
The sole problem I've had? One time the U.S. Postal Service shredded my payment, and the company sent my check back to me in two separate envelopes and I had to write a new check. U.S. Cellular charged me a small late fee because of that problem--something beyond my control. I haven't bothered to call them to see if that can be credited, but if I do, I will update this epinion to reflect that.
