The Bottom Line Just trust those you feel comfortable with trusting!
Okay, I am going to add my one cent to the issue of what the WOT is and what it means to me. Typically I laugh at people that take this site so seriously, but when it comes to my WOT, that is serious business. So, what do I mean? Well, I do not want to trust abusers, I want to trust serious writers. I get really tired of seeing people that will trust everybody and their dog just to get a few hits. I have been on this site since November and only trust 39 people as I am writing this. It takes me a while to decide if I want to trust someone or not. So, how do I decide to trust? Well, first of all I look at those who trust me. When I see that someone new trust me the first thing I do is look at my epinions to see witch one they read that made them decide to trust me. Why do I do this? Well, because there are some trust sluts out there that blindly trust people in hopes of getting a few hits. Why would I want to read their epinions if they did not even take the time to read mine? Next, if I see they have read one or more of my epinions I will go to there profile page and read and rate their last five. Even if those five are all Very Helpful, I still do not automatically add them to my trust list (sometimes I do, most of the time I don't). I will then add them to my notification list. If their next five epinions are VH, I will add them to my trust list! Your profile page also has a lot to do with if I will trust you or not. I like to see profile pages that tell me about the person. I trust some people that are not the best writers, but I really like them as a person from what I have read on their profile page. If anybody needs help sprucing up their profile page, they can e-mail me and I will help the best I can (I did have to get help on my own). Well, what about those I trust that don't trust me back? Sometimes I will read something by someone that just touched me in some way, it either had me cracking up or bawling my eyes out. When that happens, I tend to take a look at the writers other epinions. If their other epinions are just as good, I will add them to my notification list. If they keep popping out wonderful review after review, they go on my trust list. Do I drop people because they don't trust me back? No! I do not go around trusting people in hopes that they will trust me back. Some do, some don't. Of course I love it when they trust me back, but that is their choice. Do I ever drop people? Yes, I have dropped some. I will drop someone that has not written anything in two to three months. If they haven't written in that long, I will assume they are gone. I will also drop people if they don't read my epinions. I am not asking that they trust me back, but to me it is a common courtesy to read those that trust you and read your epinions. And one last thing, I will drop people if they are abusing the site. I would like to see this site survive, but if people keep abusing the site it might not. So, what have we learned here today? Well, first of all this is just my take on the WOT and what it means to me. You have the right to trust anybody you want, but I hope this was helpful to newcomers that are still not sure about the WOT and its many advantages. I also want to mention that who you trust does reflect on you and might deter from some people trusting you (some people look at that, I personally don't).
