Beware Suncom

Pros:none
Cons:rude CS agents, unwritten rules, uninformed agents
The Bottom Line: The agents need to be better trained, they need to put their policies in writing!

Back in October my husband and I decided we ought to get cell phones, and we wanted a shared minutes plan. We got a reasonable one through Suncom here in NC. We should have done our research first.

Problem one- voice mail

It is now March, and Suncom has STILL not fixed the problem with our voicemail (we can't check messages) even though my husband has spoken to them several times and they say it's fixed.

Rudeness

When we first started having the voice mail problem, I called Suncom Customer Service to find out how it could be fixed. The agent on the phone told me that since it was my husband's name on the account, she couldn't give me any information. Even after I offered to send her a Power of Attorney, she refused to tell me the problem. Then she hung up on me.

Billing

Recently I went to Alaska to visit family, and took my phone with me. When I got there I noticed I was still showing the Suncom network and not roaming, so I had my husband call them and ask if there would be roaming charges. They said no. So I sent them their normal monthly payment from Alaska (I of course hadn't recieved a bill). Today I found out that they have shut off my phone because I didn't include the roaming charges from Alaska. Even though they told me there wouldn't be any. ( I still haven't recieved a bill)

My husband spent the last two hours on the phone with 5 different agents, none of which knew what the problem was. Finally he got someone who knew something and found out why the phones were shut off. He said as soon as we pay the roaming charges they will reinstate usage on the phone. Right now, I'm not sure if I want the usage back.

Problem solved??

Well that takes care of the cut off problem, but still, 5 months later we have no voice mail ability. I have 5 voice mail mesages on my phone, and my husband has 12 on his that we can't listen to, or erase. Unfortunetly we are on a one year contract, but when October rolls around, we'll definetly be switching carriers!
