I didn't buy the car, only rented it for 3 days. So am not able to comment on the long term maintenence requirement.
I was quite excited when I was given the Volvo form the rental company (Enterprise). Specially since I had only made reservation for a Mid Size. Also, because this was one of the cars I had in mind for our next car.
The only thing I noticed, initially, was the back seat didn't have a whole lot of leg room. But since we were not expecting to have anyone but our daughter's in there (both of whom use child seats), I didn't pay much attention to it.
The trunk looked spacious but later I realized that that was because it deeper than my 2000 Maxima SE.
Once we put the 2 Child seats in the car I realized that it was quite a bit narrower than I had expected. But I was even more surprised how the car did feel as solid as I had expected. Am not really sure how to explain this but driving the car felt much like driving a Ford Focus or something.
It did give me good gas mileage though. I believe I got about 200 miles for 8 gal of gas.
