WARNING! Arm&Hammer Pet Fresh (Reply to this comment)
by allyluvcat
My experience with Arm&Hammers' product "Pet Fresh" has been terrible. The product might smell fresh but it has caused allergic reactions to 4 people I know, here is my story:
About 6 months ago I bought Pet Fresh for my carpets because I have 2 cats and a dog and thought it would help with the hair. My boyfriend started breaking out in huge hive-like welts all over his body and complained he could not breathe. He stopped coming to my house thinking it was dust mites or something else floating around in my house. We did not relate it to the product at that time. The symptoms would still resurface even when I would go to his house and he was anywhere around me. Eventually, I used all the powder, because I continued using it thinking it might help him, and after a few months his symptoms went away. He ven went to the doctors but they just told him it was allergies to something, they could not put their finger in it.
Then, a couple weeks ago my mother ended up in the emergency room because she woke up with hive-like welts from head to toe and could not breathe. After a series of tests the doctors just figured it was an allergic reaction to something she ate. When she thought back to what she had been in contact with she thought about the Arm&Hammer her cleaning lady used just a day prior to her going to the ER. Since then, my mother has had to stay out of the house. They have had the carpets cleaned and even considered having the carpets replaced. She still has problems, 3 weeks later now, whenever she goes into the house.
Well, we put two and two together and realized that that was what was happening to my boyfriend at my house and I told her it would eventually wear off. My sister has complained of her feet itching when she would walk barefoot on the carpet but not nearly the allergic reaction that my mom and my botfriend had. Also, just to help confirm the problem, my mom mentioned it to her friend a few days ago and her friend said she experienced the same symptoms with this product except it got into her eyes causing her eyes to swell real bad.
This product concerns me and I would hate to see this happen to an infant or child who may be allergic. This could be highly dangerous if it affects the lungs like it did my mother. There does not seem to be any existing damage to her lungs, but it certainly scared us.
