| iamlivtyler2's Full Review: Jack Lalanne 10091 Power Juicer |
Now I'm one of those people who knows all of the TV infomercials by heart but is to skeptical to actually take the plunge and purchase. I had a moment of weakness one day, a day when I was feeling like a wannabee health nut. I broke down and ordered the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer.
It came in a big heavy white box(oh presents, I love presents!)It was super easy to set up. Really it's just placing all the parts in the right places. And within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box I was ready to make my first glass of juice. When I first turned the machine on and it was so quiet! No louder than a household fan.
I was ready to start juicing! I popped in my fruit of choice, some watermelon that needed to get eaten up, and a gushing waterfall of pink juice began to flow. Later on I tried carrots, and even used the carrot pulp for a recipe. I have also done grapefruit juice. Just as a reference, 2 regular sized grapefruits gave me 16 oz. of juice. Not to shabby if you ask me.
Good stuff, fresh, but drink up the juice within the first day/day and a half, starts to go bad on the second day, after all its fresh and doesn't have all kinds of preservatives in it. And there is no need to peel the fruits and veggies, most of the vitamins and minerals are in the peel anyway. I decided to wash it out right away, before things had a chance to get all crusty and smelly. Most everything rinsed away, the filter is a little toucher to clean but it does come with a brush to scrub it with that works pretty well. But all in all it was easy to clean and take apart/re-assemble.
I have found that since buying this great kitchen gadget, I have actually been using it alot. You can make more than just juices, you can make smoothies, sorbets and the pulp can be added to recipes! After making carrot juice one day I used the pulp to make carrot honey bread. It was very different, but I really liked it. It did not have any white sugar or white flour in it!
I would recommend this to anyone, especially if your sick of not being able to pronounce the ingredients in the foods you eat.
I got mine from HSN.com and got free shipping. It came with a juicing recipe book and a second recipe book containing recipes for that left over pulp and juice. The actual item has a 250W motor with pulp collector bin, filter and lid with pulp guard and pusher. Extractor blade with tool for removing and tightening. Pulp collector, a unit platform and a overflow tray for the cup/measuring cup. Filter brush for easier cleaning(scrub while under running water) and measuring cup. Comes with a 90 day limited warranty.
