I am so glad that dishwashers were invented. Sometimes however I find that I need to hand wash items that either will not fit in my dishwasher, or are to delicate to be ran through my dish monster.

I decided that I needed a dish drainer and mat for those rare times that I do pick up a dish and decide to wash it by hand. I knew that I wanted something small, that I could leave next to the sink and that would not get in the way of my coffee pot, toaster, George Foreman grill, etc. I choose the Rubbermaid Hunter Green Twin Sink Dish Drainer (6008) for quite a few reasons.

Description

I found the Rubbermaid Hunter Green Twin Dish Drainer to be perfect in size and price. It was the smallest one I could find with enough room for 13 slots and a snap on container to place your silverware in. The snap on container has 8 small holes for draining. It is also easy to clean because of the snap. You can take it off and hand wash this container and you are back in business. Its measurements are aproximately about 14 in x 12.5 in x 5 in.

The actual drainer is quiet heavy and is made of sturdy wire with a hunter green plastic overlay. The bottom of this drainer has 4 knobs on the feet which are plastic and a clear blue in color. These are to prevent scratching on whatever you decide to set your drainer on.

My Experience

I paid $6.97 for this Dish Drainer without the mat. I was not able to find a mat for this drainer that matched this drainer in any way. I had already had an old mat but it was not rubbermaid. I am still searching for the matching mat for this drainer. I keep checking at Walmart for these mats to come in. So far no luck.

I still use my drainer even though the mat I have is not matching. It is white and huge compared to my drainer. I like the Rubbermaid Hunter Green Twin Sink Dish Drainer because it is so petite. It is very sturdy and I can trust that whatever I wash will remain in the drainer without slipping. It is perfect for washing out odd items like casserole dishes, coffee pots, and things that are odd to fit in the dishwasher.

I also love the little blue knobs on the bottom. I don't have a problem with scratching my counters because I do use a mat underneath. What I love about these knobs is that they hold my dish drainer down on the mat without slipping. I love the weight of the Rubbermaid Hunter Green Twin Sink Dish Drainer. I can't stand light drainers that move all around while you are washing and trying to place items in the drainer. I feel more comfortable placing delicate items in the strainer.

I will be the first to admit that I don't wash much by hand. Sometimes when the kids are away visiting with the grandparents I may use it to hand wash a few dinner dishes. Sometimes I use it when I have lots of company and my dishwasher is already being used. Sometimes my guests will bring their dishes over and I will hand wash them and so they can have them back before they leave. My dishwasher's full cycle is 45 minutes long. Sometimes people have to dine and dash. Sometimes I just have a lot of dishes and want to get done in the kitchen really quick. The Rubbermaid Hunter Green Twin Sink Dish Drainer comes to the rescue. It is never in my way. I don't wash much so overall this is a perfect item just because of its size. If you are someone who needs to wash all the time you may want to look for something a bit larger.

Color

My whole house seems to be Hunter green in the inside, from the living room to the kitchen. Why not another item that is Hunter Green? I like it better than the white. It is shiny and blends right in with the rest of the house.


Overall

Overall this is an excellent product. I am going to give this a high rating in spite of not being able to find a mat for it. It's size, color, and weight are perfect for me and my family.
