Discount Tire? Not Really.
May 04 '01
The Bottom Line I would not recommend anyone go to Discount Tire. The staff is incompetent, unknowledgeable and have a "Don't care" attitude.
I recently had to buy tires for my wifes car. I shopped around and found that Discount Tire seemed to have the best price. However, after waiting for a long time and being quoted a different price i went somewhere else.
When I first drove up the place seemed pretty busy, but I decided to wait. I went in and had to stand in line for 30 minutes before getting someone to help. They seemed short staffed on the counter and not very friendly or knowledgeable. When I finally got someone to help me he said that he didn't have the tires I had called about, but a different brand that was slightly higher. I said OK and asked how long the wait was. I was told that my car should be ready in about an hour. I waited. And waited. And waited some more. When I asked about the long amount of time it seemed to be taking (they had not even pulled my car in yet) I was told that they could not find a work order for me. So I would have to start over again. Now they did not have either the original tire I had asked for or the second tire I had agreed to buy, but instead a third tire that was considerably higher. I declined that tire and said that I wanted the tire I had originally agreed to. They said they could get it from another store but it would take two more hours. That was the final straw.
I said thank you, but never mind and left. I did not get irate or raise my voice. What good would it do when dealing with incompetence? I simply went somewhere else and vowed never to return.
