| Donnie013's Full Review: Clorox Bleach Pen |
My father, God bless him, made the most wonderful tasting spare ribs. They were messy, but great!
My mother, bless her heart, taught me to make great tasting pasta sauce.
My son makes awesome lasagna.
I could go on and on about the great meals Ive eaten in all my years (sh! dont ask how many).
The biggest problem with meals that good is that they are often just as messy.
Dad had a saying that Id like to share with you. The messier the food, the better it tastes!
While Dads little adage may be cute, he never had to the laundry! If he did, Im sure he would have revised his words by adding
but, oh! boy, watch out for those splatters. Bibs, anyone?
If I had a dollar for every blouse Ive ruined over the years with those delicious splatters, I think Id be rich by now. But, I dont so Im not. And since I wont be getting any dollars soon, Im better off eliminating as many splatters as possible.
To do that, I reach for my CLOROX BLEACH PEN.
Yes, the CLOROX COMPANY did it again. Theyve come up with a great product for removing the nastiest splattering stains most foods can spurt off.
I know Ive written about Oxi Clean, Spray n Wash and Clorox Oxi Magic , but this is something new and different.
First of all, with Oxi Clean, I wasnt totally satisfied. Spray n Wash is still something Ill use when, for whatever reason, I cant do the laundry at that specific time, it's a colored piece of clothing and I need to let a stain soak. Clorox Oxi Magic is something Ill always add to my laundry and all other cleaning chores.
But, lets just touch on laundry for a minute.
Getting back to my stain dilemma: Id gotten a new top that fit like it was made for me. Its a white cotton knit with subtle green leaves all around it. My friend invited us for dinner and she made the biggest, best spaghetti sauce Ive tasted in years. You can figure out the rest!
Being tired when we got home, I let the blouse sit over night. The next morning, I used my CLOROX BLEACH PEN and using the small end of the tube, rubbed the bleach on the spots, then washed as usual. WOW! Every stain came out!!
Thats right, all the splattered, red spaghetti sauce was gone!
Why didnt I used my handy Spray n Wash stick? Because Id heard so much about this new Bleach Pen, I had to try it. It now has a permanent home in my laundry room. Why?
Okay, lets talk about the PEN.
Yes, this does contain bleach and is not to be used on colors (opposed to Spray n Wash stick which can).
While regular chlorine bleach has a high volume of sodium hypochlorite, this little pen contains just enough to do the job. Remember, you pour your liquid chlorine bleach in water. This you put directly on your clothes. If you did that with regular chlorine bleach, it would melt the fibers and the stitching then youd be wearing the Emperors clothes. This little pen also contains a thicker soap which helps the bleach wash out the stain.
Unlike chlorine bleach which is as thinly concentrated as water, the soap concentrate in the CLOROX BLEACH PEN, make this solution thicker so easier to control where you want to put it without having it run all over your clothing.
How do you use this great little gadget?
Its easy. This little PEN actually has two ends to it. One is the thin end for small splatters and the other is wider with a nylon brush attached for those larger more stubborn stains. Just gently squeeze the center of the pen and either use the small point or scrub with the brush! That's it! Piece of cake... well, not exactly cake, but you get the idea.
For the best results, you must shake the PEN before using it. This is to thoroughly mix the bleach and soap together.
While it is suggested that you dont wash a treated item with the rest of your colors, Ive done it with no fading or spotting to the rest of my laundry. I guess youd have to decide for yourself in this situation.
What this little PEN doesnt do is remove large, set-in stains. As an experiment, I used it on a rag my husband keeps in the garage and after applying the solution and washing the rag, those nasty, oily stains were still there. But then, theyve been there for almost a year and in my opinion, nothing short of burning the rag will remove them.
Another great thing about this CLOROX BLEACH PEN is that you dont have to confine its use to just laundry. It can be used and is designed for household chores.
Remember once, I mentioned that Im a sloppy cook? So is my son! This is where the PEN comes in hand for him. Having tile as a back splash for his stove, the grout became discolored from his cooking splatters. I suggested trying the BLEACH PEN and he was amazed at how clean the grout looked afterwards.
My son often complained at how messy his kids are while washing their hands in the bathroom sink. Mom, they splash water all over the place. You should see how dirty the grout was before I used that PEN you sent me! Thats when I knew I had to do the same thing. Although Rich and I dont splash water around like children, youd be surprised (I was!) at how dirty the grout was after just a few years. My PEN got it clean as new.
I could go on and on about how great this CLOROX BLEACH PEN is but in order for you to really understand my praises, youll just have to try it for yourself. But then, for $1.49, why would pass it up?
As usual, you must keep in mind that this is chlorine bleach and:
· should you rub it in your eyes, flush with cool water for 15 minutes
· should any be swallowed, drink plenty of cold water, dont induce vomiting and call a physician immediately
· dont mix with any other household cleaners especially ammonia
· and remember, many people have extremely sensitive skin, therefore, should you among those in that category, please wear rubber gloves when using.
