Wonderful for apartment life

Pros:Stylish sleek sliver box, great sound, easy setup.
Cons:Could use more power for speakers.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a home theater system for your apartment, the Sony DAV-S300 is just what you're looking for.
About 2 months ago I was looking for a DVD surround sound system for my apartment (since my roommate moved out and took all of his stuff) when I came across the DAV-S300. At first I was really attracted to the small silver box purely for its looks but when I started looking at its features I knew I was hooked.
The DVD/CD player, AM/FM tuner, surround sound speakers (with subwoofer) were perfect for my small entertainment center. It was more compact than the similar Panasonic system and MUCH smaller than the other bulkier multi-component systems). When I saw the $600 price tag and no interest for a year sign I couldn't stop myself.
When I got it home setup was a snap. All of the speakers have color-coded plugs in the back to make it virtually impossible for anyone to screw up and they supplied plenty of speaker wire so I could run the wires along my baseboards. I got the system installed with my VCR, TV and PS2 hooked up in about a half an hour.
Keeping in mind that I'm not a total audiophile, I would rate the sound that comes from the speakers as excellent. Even the 30-watt speakers push more sound than I dare play without my neighbors being gone :)
The controls are easy to use although I was a little disappointed to find out that you cannot scan radio stations without the remote control (its probably possible but I haven't read the manual that thoroughly).
All in all this system was perfect for my apartment and when I move into my house I'll just get a more powerful set of speakers. I seriously recommend the DAV-S300 to anyone who is looking to start his or her home theater system.
