This canoe can take it all! I've had one for 13yrs and have taken it on a major canoe trip every year. Also to the hunting camp and summer cabin. The canoe literally is indestructable I've seen them wrapped around rocks where i've thought that it's life was over but remarkably transform themselves to there former selfs and continue the trip. Once flying into a remote lake the canoe came off the planes pontoon and fell 1000ft to the forest below. We hiked in from the nearest lake and recovered it with only a small dent on the front. We called Old Town Canoe headquarters and they weren't that excited about the story as it probably happened before.
The canoe handles the rapids very well as the front rides up the standing waves and the rocker of the boat gives it enough manoverability to take it in some serious rapids.
With such a high front end it can be a challange on a windy large lake as it rides up the waves and catches the wind easy.
The canoe can carry a large payload easily. The formed seats can be a pain in the butt without some foam taped to it.
It can be a challange to portage as it is fairly heavy, but the boat is so heavy duty that just dragging it easy!
One thing that really gets me mad about the tripper is that there is no Spray skirt for it. I bought a Trailhead spray skirt that was made for doing the Nahanni river, it was made of very good material but very poorly designed. Small entry hole with no material going to your body, and very poor fastening. I've modified my so much it doesn't resemble the original. For such a good tripping canoe it's a shame Old Town doesn't make one.
For all the places i've taken the canoe it being full of deep scratches and looking well worn, its taking me on yet another trip this year and probably many more.
