I ordered a GOPHONE from AT&T wireless online. I needed to not sign a contract, as I will be moving in less than a year. I read about the gophone and decided that it was a good plan for me. When they mailed my gophone, they also mailed me a free2go phone in a seperate package. I did not order this 'free2go' phone. I immediatly called them and told them of the error, they (were not surprised) and said that they would send me a label to return the phone that I did not order. I asked if I was going to be charged for the phone I did not order and they assured me I would not be. I activated my go phone and they charged me for it. Six days later, they charged me $118 for the free2go phone that I did not order. (STOLE the money out of my checking account, as I used a debit card when I ordered the gophone) I called them and was on the phone with them for 137 minutes, being transferred around to everyone under the sun. It seems the 'free2go' department and the 'gophone' department dont communicate (but somehow were able to share my info enough to charge me with the info I gave the gophone people?) At the end of this very long conversation, I was promised a credit to my account that same day. It has been 10 days now, no credit, and here I am on the phone with them again being transferred around everywhere and put on hold forever...49 minutes so far and still no one has a clue. How can a company as large as at&t be this screwed up???? I have 30 days to try out the gophone, am thinking about canceling it because of this horrible horrible experience I have had trying to deal with their customer service department. Starting to think I should get out now while I still can. Somehow in the back of my head, I know I will be writing a review on how bad the experience was trying to cancel and get my money back.
The biggest lesson I have learned is not to use your debit card for anything...you have no recourse. I should have known better, but AT&T is such a large company, I thought I was in safe hands. NOTTTTTTTTTT the case!!! They are nothing short of theives.
