| BTownsend's Full Review: 2004 Infiniti QX56 |
I purchased a 2004 Infiniti QX56 from Austin Infiniti in Texas in June 2004. My wife had been driving a 2001 QX4 and we wanted to trade up to a larger vehicle that offered third row seating.
I investigated all the likely contenders...Nissan Armada, Range Rover, Acura, VW, Cadillac, Chevy, Ford. The Infiniti won me over with it's awesome power (9000 lbs towing capacity) yet great handling and spacious and well thought out interior.
We got the loaded version and the rear camera, while I thought it would be a silly diversion, is truly an amazing feature. When you put the SUV in reverse the camera turns on and you can see behind the vehicle, along with red, yellow, green guidelines. If someone steps into the areas within these guidelines, a bell rings, increasing in intensity the closer the object is to the car. An incredible feature.
The ride is fantastic. Much smoother than the QX4 but with more power and better cornering.
The interior fit and finish is probably the best I've seen Infiniti produce. Very, very good.
There is less wind noise on this vehicle than my wife's old SUV.
The only thing I may have done differently was to not get the sunroof and instead opt for the additional overhead storage. My wife rarely uses the sunroof anyway.
