Super broom?? I would rather use a broom than this!!
Written: Mar 23 '01
Pros:No bags to replace
Cons:Does not pick up dirt at all!
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this to anyone. I would choose a broom and dust pan over this vacuum.
At the time I bought this vacuum, I was living in a townhouse with both hard wood floors and carpet, so I have tried this vacuum a variety of places. My original reason for purchasing this vacuum was for my hard wood floors. I wanted something easier to use that could maybe make my house cleaning a little faster. Next time, I will stick to a broom and dustpan!
Assembling the vacuum:
This vacuum comes with three separate parts, a handle, a cleaner and a carpet nozzle. Assembling the vacuum is essentially effortless, as all you have to do is connect the pieces. After a slight twist, everything pops into place and you are ready to start vacuuming.
Storing the vacuum:
One good aspect of this vacuum is the opportunity to hang the vacuum by its handle if needed. So at least you can save some room in your house when you are not using the vacuum.
Using the vacuum:
My model of this vacuum has a push button switch. You just push down to turn is on; push the bottom of the switch to turn it off. Their is also a control switch located on the nozzle of the vacuum. This is used when you switch from carpet to bare wood floors. After turning the vacuum on, you just turn the lever all the way to one side for deep cleaning, or the opposite side for light cleaning. When cleaning stairs, there is a convenient handle located at the bottom of the vacuum to help in carrying it up stairs.
Emptying the dust container:
NO bags to empty! I thought this would be a great feature of this vacuum. Instead it is kind of a hassle as dust and grime can spill out as you empty the container. Needless to say, emptying the container was not a hard task. After pushing the latch down, the container falls forward. You remove the motor filter and brush out any debris stuck to it. This is where I found the biggest hassle, as dirt always seemed to fall from the filter. After this you essentially dump out the vacuum container. When done, you just replace the filter and reattach the container to the vacuum.
Filters:
There are two filters inside this vacuum. If you use it frequently, which I did not, you will need to clean them. The motor filter should be cleaned as you empty the vacuum container. This helps to keep dust and allergens out of the air. The final filter is located inside the vacuum and should be cleaned as needed. You may clean the filters in warm water with a detergent if they are excessively dirty, but allow them to air dry before replacing them.
In the end, I was very displeased with this vacuum. It sounds like a good deal, and at only 20 bucks if it worked it would be a GREAT deal. Instead, it is cheaply made and does not pick up dirt at all. I would recommend you use a broom instead.
