PRICE IS AN OBJECT

The Bottom Line Be careful not to be hooked into believing that the BEST DVD player is always the MOST EXPENSIVE!!!!

I was recently faced with a major dilemma: finding my boyfriend an ideal birthday present. I knew that he really wanted a DVD player, but I was convinced that they were way too expensive.

While at a major electronics superstore, while searching for a relatively new computer game or a couple of good CD's for my boyfriend, I got up the nerve to at least WALK THROUGH the DVD section of the store. Much to my surprise, there were several of the machines well within my price range.

What surprised me even more was the answer I received when I asked the salesman "Which of the cheap ones is the best quality?" The salesman told me that ALL of the DVD players, both the cheap and the expensive, were all about the same, with the exception of those in the very top of the price range, which had unnecessary features and options.

Needless to say, I wasn't convinced. After price shopping at two more electronics stores, I wound up hearing the same answer from every salesman I talked to. I ended up purchasing the cheapest DVD player that I could get my hands on, with such an obscure name that I can't even remember it as I sit here writing.

Now came the hard part. My boyfriend opened up his present and was elated to find that it was, in fact, what he had asked for. Suddenly, I felt afraid. What if this thing doesn't work? I realized that I could've made a big mistake by being so cheap.

As it turned out, the DVD player worked, and still does work, just fine. In fact, it works just as good as all of the DVD players that I have ever watched movies on. It was very simple to hook up to the television, and the picture and sound quality are outstanding.

I never would have believed that there is absolutely no difference between brands when it comes to something like a DVD player, but seeing really is believing!!!

In conclusion, the best advice I could give anyone would be that if you are saving up your money to watch movies on the highest priced DVD player, that would just be money that could have better been spent on those overpriced DVD's. Don't pay the extra money. We are so satisfied with our cheap model.
