Wow. I'm a dad with two very young children. And after reading that very thoughtful, well written account of your Dad(s), I'm encouraged to try and be a better Dad. Your story was a moving reminder to keep remembering the important things. Thanks again.

You did a great job, I hope plenty of Dads read this as a reminder of what is important to children as they grow up!....mzrizz

I am a Father (Reply to this comment)

You are so right about everything you wrote. I want to make a living to support my son, but I do not want to do it at a cost of being there for him. Eventhough I am divorced, I not only tell him that I love him, but that his mommy loves him, plus his step dad, and everyone else, most importantly God loves him. Also, I tell him everyday that our divorce is NOT his fault at all. He is only two, so he has not developed too many interest, but what ever he likes, I would like to be a part of it.

Wonderful essay. I lost my dad last year and I too miss him terribly. I have written a couple essays about him and his death. This hit home for me, thanks again.

honor and remember your dad on his birthday. you worded this so beautifully - it really hit home.
As a recently divorced father, time with my 2 kids is on my mind a lot. Thanks for pouring your heart into this essay. I hope you will write more of them!
