Transferring to Barnard. (Reply to this comment)

Thorough review. I'm on the verge of transferring. I applied to Barnard, but was informed that when I visit the campus that a general campus tour could be arranged. However, interviews were not allotted to transfer students. Did you interview? Is it pertinent to the application? Should an applicant add anything else to the application in replace of the interview? Thank you!

I actually got accepted to Barnard in 1978. On a partial scholarship, no less! They actually called to ask why I wasn't going to go there, and begged me to change my mind!

Why didn't I attend Barnard? The answer, in hindsight, is "stupidity." My parents were poor and didn't believe in student loans. So I went to a NJ State college instead (where I had a full scholarship). Why the heck didn't my school guidance counselor slap me silly?

To this day, I regret not attending Barnard.

One thing is for sure: when my kids become college age, I won't let them make those sorts of stupid mistakes.

Thanks! I hope it helps students to decide if Barnard is for them. It's that time of year again when they start getting their acceptance letters and trying to make the big decision!
