Excellent article, I liked it very much but it would be very helpful if you could update it with current models of digital camcorders. THe premium ones are now under $700 and some of them have been discontinued such as the panasonic 3ccd.

I'm glad someone had the guts to recomend some top choices in cameras.

Based on your article, and a handful of cameras I was considering, I made my mind up on a Panasonic PV-DV601, if I can find it for under $800.

A good simple article. Concedes that a lot of the "essential" differences between devices are illusory, or that strengths in one area are balanced by weaknesses in another.
