The Bottom Line Study hard, follow the rules, bring a snack and water. Success on the exam is possible with any study guide. Prep courses are for those that lack discipline.
The LSAT stands for Law School Admission Test. This exam is necessary to get into law school. The law school exam will have sections on analytical reasoning, logical reasoning and reading comprehension. The writing sample is not apart of the test it is for the admission officers to see how you write under pressure.
Why is this all necessary? All sections of the exam will tell the law school and yourself if becoming a lawyer is right for you. The sections on the test will be skills you must have to a certain degree to become a great lawyer. Also read So you want to become a lawyer from the LSAC that stands for the Law School Admission Council. They administer the test and you can request this book when you register for the exam. You can cancel your exam appointment should you decide law is not for you.
First be aware the exam is important and will gauge your future ability as a lawyer but is not the only factor in your future success as a attorney. Although the October exam is popular, stay clear of it. The stressful environment will play havoc with your confidence. The exam is stressful enough.
The LSAT is a 3 hour exam with 5 sections that can take any order and one section doesn't count towards your score. You will only get a 15 minute break after the third section before taking the other 2 sections and the writing sample. Bring water, candy or a light snack think portable. You will be watch in the men's and ladies room.
Your not allow to carry alot with you to the exam room. Just your pencils and a pen for the writing sample and a watch without sound. If it beeps they will take it and write you up for it. No cell phones with the ringer on either turn it off. You will be escorted to the room and assigned seats and read the procedure.
Don't you dare go to next section. A girl during my exam look at the next section for a moment and was written up. The proctor told her the report would be sent to all prospective law schools. Despite her arguement that she didn't cheat, the proctor repeated the procedure says, DON'T GO TO NEXT SECTION. This means when you reach the end of your section stop.
This girl future of going to law school is over. The admission officer wasn't there to know what happen. All he knows that the proctor wrote you up. It is consider cheating. Even if she takes the exam again with a perfect score the note from the first exam will be there. DON'T BREAK ANY OF THE RULES. IT COULD COST YOU YOUR FUTURE.
Obey and don't throw away 3 months of intensive study to fulfill your curiousity. In this case, curiousity really will kill the cat.
