nice system - wrong OS

The Bottom Line: certainly the system can be recommended, with the caveat of probably needing to change to windows 2,000 professional . Also gamers well want a more powerful graphic card

O. K. so to get started I really wanted a fast system, I didn't want Microsoft's play level operating system so this review is mainly about the hardware . once I got the system I formatted the drive and installed windows 2,000 .
For less than $2,000.00 you get a fast loaded system there are basically 2 weak points one as already mentioned is windows ME the other is the relatively , for such a fast system second grade graphics card .
the system offers a 1.4 GHz Pentium four processor 300 MHZ RAMbus memory a 60GB hard drive DVD drive CDRW multiple USB inputs and IEEE1394 digital video input .
As I mentioned as soon as I got the system a loaded windows 2,000 professional everything on the system was detected and drivers are installed . since getting the system it is has been used for digital video editing and for software development and testing . In particular we have been working with the new version of office which offers voice recognition the Pentium 4 processor enables the user to dictate directly into the machine without having to wait to see the machine interprate what has been said .
Video editing from miniDV tape has been the joy , no dropped frames , no lockups , the system works just as a software says it should .
Many people would urge you to go the AMD route , I would urge the opposite this system has the power and the capacity to run with not only today's software but also the software is coming next year at less than $2,000.00 this system offers extreme value just remember to include upgrading to windows 2,000 professional and if you're a dedicated gamer changing the graphics card .
