Oranjeboom Larger (Reply to this comment)
by expatbrit
This Dutch larger is too easy to drink. It is a typical beer from that region. Has a distinctive taste. Others in this category are Mas Pils, Stellar Artios. When I was a lad in the UK we would drive a small van to Dover, hop on a ferry to Ostende, go to a local supermarket or drive to Sluis and fill the van up with beer. It was soooo cheap.
Now I go to TJ's to get a beer that reminds of my youth and is still soooo cheap.

at $4 a six-pack, this is, indeed, an excellent bargain. Another world-class lager at this bargain price is the Henninger, from Frankfurt. Next time you're at TJ's give it a try.
Cheers!

in the italic part:
oarnjeboom should be oranjeboom
oranje-nessau should be Oranje-Nassau
About Dutch beer bottles...in the Netherlands, beer usually comes in brown glass to protect it from the light...for some reason, export bottles tend to be green.
Another thing to note is that export beer is adjusted to the market it's going to end up in...an infamous example is Heineken, which is Bud in green bottles in the USA and not very bad beer in the NL's. The same might go for Oranjeboom beer.
