Yeah.. I recall the time I worked at the Warehouse. Sometimes we were made to fit a 5 foot wide box, into a 3 foot wide space. Let's just say it's not pretty. Also, some kids have a habit of taking a perfect product, and switching boxes with a broken product, and then tossing the broken product "away" sometimes. Then later they'll go and get the new t.v. and bring it home. It used to be legal that employees could take home broken products from a warehouse. So when people got broken products, they'd switch it to newer boxes, which is might of what happened with that t.v.
Now at the warehouse, it's illegal to take home broken products because someone caught on to this activity, and it's a 200 dollar fine to take anything. They also offer a couple hundred dollar cash reward for anyone who reports it. So doing this activity's harder to get away with now. It should be like that in all places, but it's probably not.

Sound advice. (Reply to this comment)

I've seen more than a few banged up boxes at places like Best Buy. Circuit City seems to be a little better about not bruising their merchandise.
I bought a TV at Best Buy one time. When I opened the box after I got home, I found that the screen had a scratch all the way across it. There was no damage to the box.
It never hurts to inspect the box (and the item if they'll let you) very carefully.
