When I became of member of SearchCactus in December, I wanted to wait to receive a check from them before writing a review of their site. Like many internet users who have seen several pay-per-click programs come and go, I was a bit skeptical at first despite the good reviews that I had read about them at the time. Having been burned with Epilot , I don’t think that I expected SearchCactus to actually PAY me. As it turns out, I have already cashed two of their checks (for over 20.00$ US each) so I can honestly say that they do pay their members (quickly and on time too).
Basically, SearchCactus is a search engine that pays its members for using their site. After logging in, you type a word in the search box. (It’s always better to use more general categories such as MONEY, CREDIT CARDS or SHOPPING to ensure that you get more sites to click on.) Once the sites come up, you have to click on the ones with the “eye” symbol next to it to get paid. SearchCactus pays you 2 cents for every site that you visit (with the eye symbol next to it). You must stay on the site for at least 20 seconds to get credited and only visit that same site once every 24 hours. SearchCactus credits its members for visiting up to 20 sites a day. You cannot open more than one window at a time since SearchCactus will not credit you for this. To check your total, your can click on “SHOP” at the bottom of the page or log back in. (Be prepared for pop-up advertisement when you log in.)
Another way of making money with SearchCactus is through their referral system and to sign up for their Quick Cash offers (new feature). Their referral system is simple; you receive 25% of the amount that your referrals make (excluding the QuickCash offers). If you have several referrals, it can add up pretty quickly. For the Quick Cash offers, SearchCactus pays you a certain amount to sign up for promotions or offers (they are usually approved and credited by 30 days). If you enroll right now, they are also offering a 2.00$ signup bonus. SearchCactus also allows you 4 accounts per household. Each member must have their own email address and complete the registration form.
Once you reach 20.00$, you can cash out by clicking the SEND MY CHECK button in the member control panel. Just make certain that you do so by the last day of the month. Otherwise, the amount will be carried over to the next month.
SearchCactus sends its members’ checks on the 15th of the following month. I live in Canada and I normally receive my check by the 20th of the following month which I find really quick compared to other sites that wait 60 days to send the payments out to its members. Please note that SearchCactus does charge a 2.00$ processing fee for members that live outside of the United States ( a fact that I don’t really appreciate even if they do pay ). You can only enroll if you live in the United States or in Canada.
It usually takes me about 15 minutes to complete my searches although this varies from day to day. I have noticed lately that my usual categories do not provide me with as many paying sites with the eye symbol. I have to use more words for my searches and it no longer pulls up a variety of LOOKSMART sites. I can only hope that this is temporary and that it will not become too time-consuming.
When I had to email SearchCactus a few times in the past, I found their customer service reliable and friendly. I received a reply to my emails on the same day which is more than I can say for other sites.
Overall, I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to make a few extra dollars without too much effort (I usually use this site when I am watching TV or running another program in the background). Without referrals, you can expect to make about 12.00$ a month if you visit the maximum number of paid sites daily. The best part about SearchCactus is that they do pay and that they have a steady and reliable pay schedule. I will keep using SearchCactus for as long as they prove reliable. I am also looking forward to a nice check next month (with referrals).
