Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful location/grounds.
Cons: Musty rooms, billing problems, non-refundable extra $15 per day resort fee, way overpriced!
The Bottom Line: This hotel is way overpriced, you would be better staying at another hotel in kaanapali. You DO NOT get what you pay for at the Ritz Kapalua.

My husband and I stayed at the Ritz during the 1st four days of our vacation/honeymoon. I was expecting a lot from the Ritz since I had read a lot of good reviews and made my choice to stay there based on the good reviews. I was quite dissapointed to say the least. My husband is really weird about staying in hotel rooms- he generally thinks they are disgusting. Because this was our honeymoon I went out of my way to try to find a hotel which would be top notch and paid top $$. Again, I was disappointed in the quality and the service.
Quality of the rooms:
The rooms were large, however they smelled kind of musty. The carpet was somewhat matted and needed replacing. The hotel grounds are beautiful, but they should spend some money renovating the rooms. I kept the a/c on 63 the whole time and it was still hot in the room. The room was not as clean as I would have liked it. The shower had mold in it and hair in the bathtub. The sheets on the bed had stains on it. I could have stayed at a Marriott that would have been nicer for 1/2 the cost.
Quality of the service:
The staff was very friendly. Our parents were at the hotel staying in another room, thus they had the same last name. For some reason all charges kept being charged to our room, even though they had a separate room. For example, our parents got valet parking. I heard them tell the valet their name and room number, but it still got charged to our room for 4 days!! Some of the room service charges were billed to the incorrect rooms. These people can't seem to get it right!! The parking situation is a nightmare. I have never seen a parking lot where all employee parking comes before guest self-parking. They must have about 100 employee parking spots before guest self-parking (meaning self=parking was about 6 rows back at the top of a hill. In my opinion, they do this just to encourage you to pay the extra $15 a day for valet parking. The valet parkers are not experienced and there was always a delay for them to get our parents car. We watched in horror as the valet backed a guest rental jeep into another guest rental car!
