I have had nothing but bad luck with HP.
My first pavilion my mom bought back in 99, lasted to August 2001 then it FRIED because HP doesn't know how to cool their computers properly, and under power their power supplies below the needed wattages for the computers they sell.
So, I was horrified, I contacted them and asked them to give me my money back.. NO! they said.. To their exact words, "We are very sorry for the problem you have experienced. We know how you feel, but we can't replace a system that has died if it is out of warranty."
They know how I feel? Yea Right!
So, I thought I could trust them enough to buy another HP Pavilion, which is this system listed on this website on this page.
Bought the 531w April 2002, had to take the PC in one time because something had happened to it (replaced a part by warranty thank god), low and behold, 1.5 years later back in the same boat.
It is extremely hot in the case, the power supply heats up and stinks just when surfing the web.
I told HP about this, and I get the same "We know how you feel, but we aren't giving you your money back because that's how we operate," reply.
If you ever see HP or Compaq computers on a shelf, RUN!!! 2 years down the line when that warranty ends, your computer will screw!
HP doesn't know how to cool pc's properly, their tech support is linked in India, and tech support has you go through rediculous procedures over and over again even though you tell them you tried and doesn't work, then they tell you that you need to get it send in for repairs (which will cost you money).
Don't support HP or compaq..
I have built my own computer, have had it for 3 months now, and NEVER had a problem.
