The basics of the WOT, and how I got 175+ members on my WOT!

The Bottom Line Use the WOT, it will help you out.
The Web of Trust on epinions sounds like an exclusive group of people that only the best writers would be able to get into. When in fact the Web of Trust (WOT) can be accessed and used by any registered member of epinions. What is the WOT? How can it be helpful to me? Why should I waste my time building it, I won’t get any money for it? Those are some of the questions that you might be asking yourself, and in this review I will try to answer all of those questions, and also explain how to build your WOT.
What is the Web of Trust?
There are many ways to drive fellow epinions members to read your reviews. One of those ways is called the Web of Trust. The WOT is a way to make public that you like a writer so much that you are saying that you “trust” them. Which basically means that the person that you are trusting writes quality reviews, and you enjoy reading what they write. After all of this said you might wonder why on earth you would want to waste your valuable time trusting or not trusting members. So this brings up the next question.
How can the Web of Trust be helpful to me?
Why should you use the WOT? That is probably the main question. Well to sum it up fairly easily you want to increase your WOT to drive more members to your profile page. For example if you are reading a review and you notice that a particular member has 150 members trusting him/her you would more likely go to that member’s profile page then that of a member with only 7 people trusting him/her. I know that there is a huge gap in between 7 and 150, but I will tell you how you can increase your WOT dramatically in the next section of this review, but first I will continue with this section. I guess you could call the WOT a way to intimidate other members into visiting your profile page. Once again if you see that a member is trusted by a lot of other members you would more then likely want to see how well of a writer that person really is, and go read some more of that persons reviews.
You want to get onto as many other members’ WOT as possible because, for example, if I am browsing around the epinions website and I come across a very respected writer and see that he only trusts 9 members I would want to see who those people are! If you are trusted by already respected members then that is just another way of increasing your chances of getting another page view. Remember we now only get one single penny per page view, so we need to get as many of them as we can.
O.K. I understand that you need the WOT, but how can I get mine bigger?
Now with all of that other stuff out of the way, you probably want to know how I got my WOT so big with not even 30 reviews written. It seems like an impossible feat to accomplish, but it is not as hard as it may seem. The first thing you must do is write quality reviews. If you do not write quality reviews it will be impossible to get a very large WOT. To put things into perspective for you, I would say that you would have to give yourself a minimum amount of words that you have to write. So before you publish your review do a word count on it and see how many words you have actually written. How many words you write makes a big difference on how people rate you, and also if they will trust you or not. Usually I try to write more then 700 words per review. If I for some reason have a writer’s block on that day, I will definitely make sure I have more then 500 words. That may seem like a lot of words, but if you really know the topic you are writing on it should come easy. On a side note: don’t pressure yourself into rambling on and on, you will get better over time so don’t rush it!
After you have written a couple of quality reviews and gotten your name out there a little more, then you want to really get your name out there. To do this you must constantly read and rate reviews for about 15-20 minutes a day, and don’t forget to leave comments when need be. After about a week of writing quality reviews, and rating and leaving comments you will see your WOT start to rise. If you keep writing quality reviews and rating other reviews you will be astonished at how many people trust you. If this method doesn’t work for you right off the bat, don’t worry, just stick with it and I know that the number of people that trust you will start to rise at an incredible rate.
