Pros: None
Cons: Expensive. Difficult as hell to make changes. They're under FCC investigation.
The Bottom Line: Avoid NSI at all costs, unless you have a fetish for self inflicted pain.

The hosting company for one of my sites setup my domain name with NSI back in the day.. and I've been trying to make changes to the record. One because I moved, and secondly because I want to change hosting companies.
There's two problems. One is that my company changed it's domain name, but our old email addresses just get forwarded to the new one. So I'm listed as the billing contact and I try to make changes, and get the emails for authorization... But when I reply it gets rejected because I'm replying with a different email address.
The second problem is that the hosting company put in some random person's email address for the Administrative contact. So this individual who has nothing to do with the situation has been getting all these emails. He could if he wanted completely screwed around with my domain name. He's also being uncooperative.
So I use the Network Solutions online fax template to make a fax request. I get an email back saying the fax was ineligible. First, if the fax wasn't readable, how were they able to identify my email address and case tracking number.
Even trying to make changes using their automated email system is IMPOSSIBLE to work with. Can you imagine trying to use tax software that was email based? So you had to keep sending emails back and forth with an automated response system. That's ridiculous. And so is NSI's solution for making changes.
Trying to work with them on the phone is even worse! I left my phone on hold I swear to God for 2 hours. I came into work, called up and put it on hands free mode and just kept working up until a meeting when I had to give up and go.
NSI's changing domain record information should be 100% online. It should email you with some kind of verification code that's tied to your choice of Administrative, Technical, Billing, or owner of the domain. Then if you have gotten that verification it must have been sent to your email address. You can then punch that into the form and make changes online.
I've sent them another fax, this time writing them a letter explaining what I need to have happen. As well before I included a copy of my driver's license for identification (so they don't try stalling by saying they were unable to validate my identity). That license has the same address that is tied to the registration on the domain name. This time I'm also added work authorization ID, Passport, Social Security... what else do they need, urine samples?!
I just heard the FCC is investigating NSI because of the overwhelming level of customer complaint and I'm going to join the fight against them. I long for the day when I can get this switched over to another registrar.
