Total elapsed time: 13 minutes.
After detailed research in local shops, I decided on the buying the Sony HC30. Looking at prices, it looked way higher in local stores than those offered in the net. So, I planned to get it over the net. I have made several purchases from several branded stores like Dell, Gateway, Circuitcity, Staples, and many other stores. But this time, I did not want to lose money and wanted to give it a try to these net only stores.
I read the customer reviews at EPINION and made my choice to go with IBUYDIGITAL (1/866-243-4289). They offered the lowest price for a new SONY HC30.
I called the number and was attended by DAVID (x574).
I told that I was interested in the camcorder and wanted to buy it. The order was done. I was not pressed for sale of any accessories or anything. Then I discussed on shipping options and I took the regular shipping. I was about to finish the call when I decided (after finding that I was not pressed for accessory sales) to check out prices on batteries. David mentioned to me that there is a sale he can give the FP50 for $57.00 (it is $59.00 in stores). I did not want to get the same standard battery that comes with the camera and wanted to get one that lasts longer. He recommended FP70 the next in line and it was $97 ($119 in stores). He also mentioned that along with the battery I will get a UV filter and a camera bag. I took the deal. Now is the better part.
I did not stop and asked David, if he can give me 10% off. He initially said that it is tough to get 10% off, but then agreed to offer to me.
Now, again, it was me not finishing the sales, tried to check one more thing. I asked him if he can throw in a tape. He said NO now. Even I would say if I were in his position. I insisted (he did not raise his voice or I did not see any frustation in his voice, David special regards to you for handling this situation) and he asked me if I am asking for both 10% and a battery. He explained that he can get me one and 10% would cost me $87, but two tapes to the order would add more value. I once took his recommendation and finished the deal.
I said I was satisfied with the order and was about to finish the call, when he said to me that because I am calling them for the first time, he would also upgrade my shipping to a 3-day from a 10-day regular shipment.
This was definitely a surprise and I cannot wait to get my camcorder.
Customer service:
1. David was very helpful in keeping me focused during my order and did not try to sell me things I do not need.
2. Was not harsh when I was strectching things a little over the limit. Took few minutes to explain to me clearly what I was asking for.
3. Prompt answers and clear answers and no communication issues (must mention this nowadays!!)
Overall Experience:
Great people at IBUYDIGITAL and definitely recommend to use them for purchases, over the net or by calling their toll free number.
Not only saves money, but also great shopping experience and more value for the money we spend.
I would have ended up just paying $569.00 for the camcorder, plus STATE tax at a local store.
Instead for $551.89 I was able to get the camcorder, a next level battery, carry case, UV filter and two tapes.
Will buy more and will recommend to friends.
I will shop again with IBUYDIGITAL and recommend to all my friends.
