The college of "real life"May 16 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line Come to college with education on the mind! College is not like in the movies. I try to stress this point, because the movies have made colleges look like this place where you go after high school to party. Where every night is a party night, and if you aren't getting drunk, then you aren't going to survive. Well, I am here to tell you that all of those beliefs are unfounded. Sure, I will admit, some people party as much as they can when they get to college. There are always going to be those people that feel that every minute when they are not partying is a waste of time. But, I will tell you that they do not last very long in the long-run on a college scene. Drinking may be an accepted practice by some people, but it in no way is a "Means-to-an-end" regarding a college education. People do not have to drink in order to be liked, or accepted, or to even have fun at their school. At my college, I like to think that people are beyond doing really childish things, but sometimes they can not be avoided, and people with by immature. The thing that really sets college apart, is that people need to come here with getting a degree in mind. With that in mind, you must then attend class, and study, study, study. The think about the studying, is that people will underestimate how long it might take to. I can study for hours every night and not have all the information down in my mind. Now, I am not trying to scare away anyone, but when you get to college you need to take it seriously. You need to be willing to put the work into it, and you will be rewarded at the end of your term with a great degree and a better chance at a great job in your future. |
