| blackrose4eva's Full Review: Gonzo Kitchen Odor Eliminator OEK212 |
**I have searched everywhere to look for a place to write a review on Gonzo Pet Odor Eliminization. But according to these reviewers here and the look of that bag of the picture (It looked exactly the same), I think I'm in the right place. There may be a few difference, I don't know. Either way, it is supposed to act as an odor eliminator, so if it works for pets, it works for the kitchen too right?
I love my Feline Pine. It may not be 100% perfect, but it works best compare to many other kitty litter brand.
However, not everyone is as pleased as I was with the litter. Everyone in the household including visitors can smell the urine/poop and the wood which the litter is made of. They continuously complained to me about the odor--I don't smell it, and the litterbox is in my room--and suggest I do something about it.
Normally, I don't follow orders. "If you don't like it, don't face it" is my motto, and if you don't like the odor, you deal with it. But since I'm getting a kitty shampoo for Aiko, I might as well be nice enough to get an odor eliminator on the way. Thus, I bought Gonzo Pet Odor Eliminator.
General Info
In the front, it says:
- 100% Odorless Non-toxic Environmentally Safe Volcanic Minerals
- All Natural
- Keeps Air Fresh
- Safe for you..safe for your pets
- Lasts for Years
- Satisfaction Guarantee
Environmental friendly? That's great! Volcanic minerals? I don't exactly understand what that means or what it does, but oh well. Something new to try.
Lasts for years and satisfaction guarantee? Let's hope so.
How it works
It says:
The volcanic minerals in the net have a negative charge. Odors have a positive charge. The volcanic minerals act like a magnet to attract and hold unpleasant odors.
Again, I'm not chemistry freak. Actually, I don't even remember what I had learned in my chemistry class, so I don't know how this works. However, the idea of positive and negative charge sounds convincing yet fishy. I don't know, it just sounds too simply and easy..
What it will do
- Eliminate odors from pet areas
- Absorb odors caused by urine and feces
- Eliminate airborne bacterial odors, making the air cleaner and healthier
- Eliminate odors in cars, boats, and recreational vehicles
- Deodorize basements, kitchens, bathrooms, or any areas that have unpleasant odors
- Eliminate smoke odors caused by cigars, cigarettes, fireplaces and chimneys
- Eliminate musty odors caused by mold and mildew
From experience, I can tell the first part works. I simply put the bag next to Aiko's litterbox (Hanging is too annoying) and in less than a few hours, according to everyone in the house, it doesn't smell anymore! The odor was gone. Gone.
Since the litterbox is close to the bathroom, it may have worked for that area also. I don't know, I can't say for sure. But it doesn't smell so maybe it does work?
It can...
Be hung up in a room or placed under furniture and it will still be 100% effective
Directions
Remove the plastic outer wrap and also plastic wrap over the net bag. Never open the net bag. The net should be placed near litter boxes, pet beds, or cages. Allow 4 to 8 hours for the pet odor eliminator to be totally effective. One bag will be effective in an area size up to 400 sq. feet.
Every 8 to 10 months (or as needed) leave the net bag outdoors in the direct sunlight for 6 hours, this will completely restore the effectiveness of the volcanic mineral. Effective in temperature from -40 Fahrenheit to 115 Fahrenheit. Keept out of the reach of children.
400 sq. feet?! That sounds good to me. So far, I don't smell any odors around the house--actually, it had no odors anywhere else but the litterbox to begin with.
Instead of waiting that long for it to work, the bag started working in about 4 hours at the most. The odor was gone.
The temperature interval also sound pretty good. That means you almost basically place it wherever you want! And unlike most products, which needed to be bought and replaces, you can restore the effectiveness by simply putting it under the sun. Save money, save time, save gas money!
I definitely recommend this product. However, there is one problem:
Dust. The moment you open the plastic wrap around the net, the dust just falls out and continue to come out. The dusts came from the little rocks inside the net, so there's nothing you can do to stop it. This is another reason I decided not to hang it on the wall. It just continues to make a mess on the carpet.
Instead, I would recommend solving this problem by putting it on the ground next to the stinky area. Grab a plastic bag somewhere or something for the Odor Eliminator to sit on. This way, the dust will only fall on that bag instead of the carpet or floor. That's how I did it.
**You must remove the plastic wrap around the net. How else would it attract odors?
Again, I'm not familiar with chemistry. But if it works, hey, it works! Who cares.
If you're interested to learn more about it, you can check out their website at www.gonzocorp.com. They also have other products such as stain remover, wonder sponge, screen cleaner, smoke-off sponge, and etc.
I definitely enjoyed this product. Although it is a bit pricy (I paid $4) for a small bag, it is worthy it. I recommend anyone especially with pets to try this out.
