Can Nintendo survive? (Reply to this comment)
by kadragon
I think Nintendo is withering away. Their Gamecube is the weakest of the big 3 (Gamecube, PS2, and X Box). While their system is cheaper they usually require you to buy more extras than PS2 and X Box to play the games which I think makes consumers mad. The only thing really keeping them around are their signature titles. Such as Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.

Oh, of course!! Microsoft is the biggest monopoly of them all! So big that they can afford to lock up the legal system and get away with it! So big that they can release a killer console as a little side project! So big that they can force IT departments and single consumers all over the globe to keep updating to new and buggier OS's every year! So big that they can publish computer (and now Xbox) games as a small division and slap their name on them! So big that people can fill a paragraph with Microsoft monopoly jokes without repeating punch-lines!

But they're not so big that they can totally invade our privacy with Windows XP! If XP turns out to be that bad, I'm sticking with Windows 98SE & 2000 Pro, then I'm gonna switch on over to a little OS I like to call Linux :) Heck, I might go back to console gaming!

RE: AOL/Time Warner being a huge monopoly

Couldn't you say the same about Microsoft?

Thanx for the info, but I think I'll keep that question mark next to the PS2's internet capabilities. AOL/Time Warner is too big, potential monopoly. As if they won't try it! I don't trust them... *looks around suspiciously* ...they're always watching us with those big telecommunications satellites...

Oh well, anything for online gaming, eh comrades?

A small update (Reply to this comment)
by NetDanzr
Sony announced an agreement with AOL/Time Warner, which will provide external modems and Internet connection for PS2.

Otherwise, great review.
